Rising Sun Workshopは、国内外でプロモーションしていきたいという意思のある、才能ある新進写真家を対象としています。オーガナイザーは、フリーランス・キュレーターのMarc Prustと、TOKYO INSTITUTE of PHOTOGRAPHYディレクターの速水惟広。このワークショップのねらいは、日本の現代写真を体現している写真家のネットワークを構築することにあります。このワークショップで、参加者は視覚言語としての写真、編集、ストーリーテリング、そしてプロジェクトの構成の仕方を学びます。スペシャルセッションではインターナショナルポートフォリオレビューイベントに挑戦するための、ポートフォリオの準備の仕方、ステートメント、ポートフォリオに期待されること、アフターフォローアップについて学びます。このワークショップで参加者が確実に習得できるものは、国内、海外を問わず、写真が氾濫するこの時代において、人々の目にとまり、こころを動かす作品をつくるためのファンダメンタルな力です。それは、参加者にとって、ワークショップ後にも作品制作の礎となる一生ものの体験となります。

The Rising Sun Workshop is aimed at talented and upcoming Japanese photographers who have the ambition to promote their work inside and outside of Japan. The organizers, freelance curator Marc Prüst and Tokyo Institute of Photography’s Ihiro Hayami aim to build a network of photographers whose work can be said to represent the current state of Japanese photography.
In this workshop the participants are taught about photography as a visual language, editing, storytelling, and how to build a photographic project. A special session is dedicated to international portfolio review events: how to prepare your portfolio, the statement, what to expect, and how to follow-up after the event. Three full days of information, inspiration, and fun.
